Rolando fracture Orthopedics A 3-part comminuted intraarticular fracture/dislocation at the base of the thumb/1st metacarpal, in which a large dorsal fragment of the metacarpal continues to articulate with trapezium. Rolando fractureA comminuted intra-articular fracture of the base of the first metacarpal with distal fragment subluxation. This fracture is similar to a Bennett fracture, but with more comminution.
