Triboluminescence of Phosphors

luminescence that occurs when crystal phosphors are ground, crushed, or cleaved. Triboluminescence is caused by electric discharges between electrified pieces of the crystals. The light of the electric discharges causes photoluminescence of the crystal phosphors.
