Location:Southwestern Oregon, from the summit of the Cascade Mountain range to the western lowlands. Accessible by OR 138. Nearby cities/towns include Canyonville, Cottage Grove, and Roseburg.
Facilities:54 campgrounds, 5 rental cabins, 4 resorts (concession operated), trails (757 miles), boat launches, scenic drives.
Activities:Camping, hunting, fishing, boating, canoeing, whitewater rafting, hiking, rock climbing, mountain biking, horseback riding, cross-country and downhill skiing, snowmobiling.
Special Features:25-mile "Wild and Scenic" section of North Umpqua River; three wilderness areas; Emile Big Tree Botanical Area, a grove of giant, old-growth Douglas fir trees; historic Bohemia Mining District; Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail (see entry in national trails section); Rogue-Umpqua Scenic Byway (Highway 138), nicknamed the "Highway of Waterfalls." Nearby is Crater Lake National Park (see entry in national parks section).
