Paravani
a lake in the Georgian SSR. It has an area of 37.5 sq km. Its average depth is 2.4 m; and its maximum depth 3.3 m. Situated between the Dzhavakheti and Samsari mountain ranges at an elevation of 2,074 m, it is fed primarily by subterranean waters. The highest water levels are in May; the range of fluctuation is about 0.7 m. The lake freezes in November or December, and the ice breaks up in April. Lake Paravani is the source of the Paravani River, a right tributary of the Kura River.
