Special Features:Focal point of the refuge is 10,000-acre Lake Darling, constructed in 1936 to provide water to downstream marshes on J. Clark Salyer and Upper Souris NWRs.
Habitats: 32,092 acres including river bottom woodlands, flood plains, rolling hills with native mixed grasses, and steep, brush-covered coulees.
Access: Daily between 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., year round.
Wild life: Geese, tundra swans, pintails, canvasbacks, redheads, buffleheads, muskrats, and white-tailed deer.
