triceps muscle

A three-headed muscle attached to the back up the upper arm bone (humerus) and to the outer edge of the shoulder-blade (scapula) and running down the back of the arm to be inserted by a strong TENDON into the curved process (olecranon process) on the back of one of the two forearm bones (the ulna). The triceps muscle straightens the elbow in opposition to the biceps muscle, which bends it.
