Tesi Tramontini, Vittoria

Born Feb. 13, 1700, in Florence; died May 9, 1775, in Vienna. Italian contralto.

A pupil of F. Redi and F. Campeggi, Test Tramontini made her debut in 1716 in Parma. She sang in theaters in Italy and in Vienna, Dresden, and Madrid. She became famous for her performance of male roles, including the title roles in Saro’s Achule in Sciro and Vinci’s Astianatte. In 1750 she retired from the stage and became a teacher.
