 A Parkinson's disease-like complex accompanied by other neurologic changes–eg, impaired eye movement, orthostatic hypotension, cerebellar ataxia, dementia; PPSs include olivopontocerebellar degeneration with ataxia, parkinsonism-amyotrophic lateral sclerosis overlap, parkinsonism-dementia–normopressure hydrocephalus, gait disturbance and urine incontinence, progressive supranuclear palsy with ophthalmoplegia, Shy-Drager syndrome with orthostatic hypotension, striatal degeneration; 2º parkinsonism may be caused by stroke, encephalitis, meningitis; drugs–tranquilizers–eg, haloperidol, metoclopramide, phenothiazine, narcotics, anesthesics, toxins, carbon monoxide poisoning, recreational use of MPTP or other drugs
