Trichostrongylus Infestation

a parasitic disease of man and animals caused by nematodes (roundworms) of the family Trichostrongylidae; one of the nematodiases. The parasites are small (about 1 cm long) and infest the intestine. Their eggs, excreted with feces, develop in soil until the larval stage. Infestation occurs after the larvae are ingested. The disease is manifested by gastrointestinal disorders; anemia and weakness occur in severe cases.

Trichostrongylus infestation is treated with-bephenium hydroxynaphthoate. Preventive measures include the treatment of infected animals and persons, hygienic care of cattle, and observance of the rules of personal hygiene. [26–689–1 ]
