Randviir, Tiiu Aleksandrovna
(also Tiiu Randviir). Born Mar. 10, 1938, in Tartu. Soviet Estonian ballet dancer. People’s Artist of the USSR (1967).
Randviir graduated from the Tallinn School of Choreography in 1955. She continued her studies at the Moscow Choreographic School and the Bolshoi Theater in 1959 and 1960.
In 1955, Randviir became a soloist with the ballet company of the Estonia Theater. Her roles have included Meelike in Kapp’s The Gold Spinners, the Maiden and Joanna in Tam-berg’s Ballet Symphony and Joanna Possessed, Odette-Odile in Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, and Carmen in Carmen Suite (music by Bizet, arranged by Shchedrin).
