range error range error[′rānj ‚er·ər] (ordnance) Difference between the range to the point of impact of a particular projectile and the range to the center of impact of a group of shots fired with the same data. range errorAs it pertains to armament delivery, it is the distance measured from the imaginary line drawn through the actual point of impact and the desired point of impact, both parallel and perpendicular to the direction of attack. Range error pertains to the distance along or parallel to the attack direction, whereas the distance across or perpendicular to the direction of attack is called the line error.
