Slovak Beskids

 

(in Czechoslovakia, Slovenské Beskydy; in Poland, Beskidy Żywieckie), a part of the West Beskids in the Carpathians of Poland and Czechoslovakia. The Slovak Beskids are about 80 km long and reach a maximum elevation of 1,725 m at Babia Góra. They are composed primarily of sandstones. Forests of spruce, fir, and beech are found to an elevation of 1,400 m, and mountain scrub and meadows at higher elevations. Tourism is well developed in the area. Babia Góra National Park is located on the Polish side of the mountains. [23–1708–]
