PARR tool

PARR tool

Patients At Risk of Readmission tool. A risk prediction system used by primary care trusts to identify patients at high risk of readmission, using routine inpatient data to predict the risk of individual patients requiring emergency readmission to hospital.
The PARR tool is the result of the Essex Strategic Health Authority commissioning of The King’s Fund to develop an algorithm for identifying populations at increased risk of multiple hospital admissions on behalf of the Department of Health, the NHS Modernisation Agency and England’s Strategic Health Authorities. The PARR tools were jointly developed with Health Dialogue and NYU. Initially, two tools (PARR1 and PARR2) were developed, but PARR1 was not widely used and thus the computer-based PARR tool is actually PARR2 on its own.
