Taimura
a river in Krasnoiarsk Krai, RSFSR; a left tributary of the Nizhniaia Tunguska River of the Yenisei River basin. The Taimura measures 454 km in length and drains an area of 32,500 sq km. It originates at the confluence of the Severnaia Taimura and Iuzhnaia Taimura rivers and flows through a broad valley in the Central Siberian Plateau. It is fed mainly by snow. Spring high water accounts for 60 percent of the river’s annual flow. There are flash floods in the summer. The mean flow rate 332 km from the mouth is 87.6 cu m per sec. The Taimura freezes in October, and the ice breaks up in May or early June.
