Taimyr Malyi

 

an island in the Laptev Sea, in the southeastern part of the Severnaia Zemlia archipelago. Taimyr Malyi has an area of approximately 250 sq km, with elevations to 31 m. It is composed of glaciofluvial and marine deposits (sand plain, loam). The island is covered mainly with mosses, liverworts, and lichens. There is a polar station on the island. Taimyr Malyi was discovered in 1913 during the expedition of B. A. Vil’kitskii.
