Tait, Arthur Fitzwilliam

(1819–1905) painter; born in Livesey Hall near Liverpool, England. He emigrated to New York City (1805), summered in the Adirondacks, and became known for his works of the American West, as well as sporting scenes, many of which were made into lithographs by Currier & Ives.
