Location:Along Old Montgomery Rd., 1.5 miles northwest of downtown Tuskegee, Alabama; 35 miles east of Montgomery and 20 miles west of Auburn.

Special Features:Booker T. Washington founded this college for black Americans in 1881. Preserved here are the brick buildings the students constructed themselves, Washington's home, and the George Washington Carver Museum, which serves as park headquarters and visitor center. The college is still an active institution that owns most of the property within the national historic site.
