• Rachitic rosary Bulbous widening of the costochondral junction due to softened epiphyses seen in infants with vitamin D-deficient rickets—; the ‘rachitic’ rosary may also be seen in congenital neonatal hypophosphatemia, childhood hypophosphatasia and in adenosine deaminase deficiency
• Scorbutic rosary Bulbous enlargement of the costochondral junctions, similar to the rachitic rosary except that the angulation of the scorbutic ‘beads’ is sharper than in rickets due to subluxation of the sternal plate
