Selwyn
a mountain range in northeastern Australia, in the state of Queensland. It extends from the Great Dividing Range to the Western Plateau, separating the basin of the Gulf of Carpentaria from the closed basin of Lake Eyre North. The average elevation is 300–400 m. The range is composed primarily of limestones, with outcrops of ancient crystalline rocks. Vegetation includes thin eucalyptus forest, desert savanna (eucalypti, acacias), and grass and shrub semideserts. There are large deposits of iron, copper, complex, and uranium ores.
