Parting of the Red Sea Syndrome

A phenomenon in scalp reduction surgery after excision of a central alopecic zone, followed by approximation of both superior fringes of the still carpeted portion of the scalp at or near the midline; the hair at the apposed superior aspect of the fringe grows at nearly 180º divergent—i.e., grossly misdirected hair—from its mirror-image ‘twin’ just across the midline
