tricycle landing gear[′trī·sik·əl ′land·iŋ ‚gir] (aerospace engineering) A landing-gear arrangement that places the nose gear well forward of the center of gravity on the fuselage and the two main gears slightly aft of the center of gravity, with sufficient distance between them to provide stability against rolling over during a yawed landing in a crosswind, or during ground maneuvers. |
