[¦sem·ē¦ak·tiv ′hōm·iŋ ‚gīd·əns] (navigation) Guidance in which a craft or vehicle is directed toward a target by illuminating the target with radiation from a ground-based or shipborne radar; the missile or other vehicle is equipped with a direction-finding receiver which enables it to home on the target by use of the radar signal reflected from it.
