Ross Ice Barrier

a steep precipice of ice forming the outer edge of the Ross Ice Shelf, bordering on the Ross Sea. The barrier extends from east to west, from the Edward VII Peninsula to Ross Peninsula. Elevations reach 50 m. The barrier was discovered by and named after J. C. Ross, who led a British expedition to the area in 1841.
