The coding structures in common use are typically multi-digit, faceted systems that identify group and characterize components by finish, size, material, machining and other characteristics and process requirements. There are several systems available. The Brisch system is usually used within the UK. The Opitz system within Germany and the Miclass system in the Netherlands.
