Prapor

(The Banner), a monthly literary, artistic, and sociopolitical journal of the Writers’ Union of the Ukrainian SSR. It has been published in Kharkov since 1956, replacing the miscellany Kharkov (1952–55). The journal’s main sections are devoted to prose, poetry, current affairs, and criticism. Prapor also publishes works by Ukrainian writers and translations from the literatures of other nationalities of the USSR and from foreign literatures. The journal devotes considerable attention to the theme of the working class and to science and culture. Circulation, 14,000 (1975).
