Prasol

until the 1860’s, a merchant in Russia who bought up fish or meat wholesale in the villages and sold them at retail. Prasol is presumably derived from the Russian word sol’ (“salt”), since the merchants salted the food before selling it. A prasol also bought up livestock, various agricultural raw materials, such as flax, bristles, and wool, and forests from landowners.
