The simple Caesar-cypher encryption that replaces eachEnglish letter with the one 13 places forward or back alongthe alphabet, so that "The butler did it!" becomes "Gur ohgyreqvq vg!" Most Usenet news reading and posting programsinclude a rot13 feature. It is used to enclose the text in asealed wrapper that the reader must choose to open - e.g. forposting things that might offend some readers, or spoilers.A major advantage of rot13 over rot(N) for other N is that itis self-inverse, so the same code can be used for encoding anddecoding.rot13A simple cryptography system that substitutes each letter with the 13th letter down the alphabet, rotating back to the beginning.
