Rotary Swaging

Rotary Swaging

a forging process performed on rotary swaging machines whose working member rotates together with a tool that acts on the workpiece from different sides (viewed in cross section). Rotary swaging involves the reduction and drawing of rods and pipe in shaped hammer blocks. Articles produced by rotary swaging usually have the shape of bodies of revolution (solid or hollow, smooth or stepped). It is also possible to produce swaged pieces with square and rectangular cross sections.
