pasma

A culture-bound (“folk”) syndrome described in Filipinos, which is characterised by tremors, sweaty palms, numbness and pain. It is most common in those who work with their hands (e.g., laundry women, farmers, secretaries, pianists, students and factory workers) and overlaps with symptoms of diabetes and hyperthyroidism, suggesting some form of neurological dysfunction.
