Tverskoi Sbornik

(Tver’ Collection), a chronicle codex compiled between the mid-16th century and the first 30 years of the 17th century. The Tver’ Collection is composed of two parts: the first is an account that starts with the biblical story of Adam and ends with the events in Rus’ in 1255; the second part is a historical account of Russia between 1248 and 1499. A compilation known as the Rostov Codex of 1534 served as the basis for the first part of the Tver’ Collection. The second part of the collection was based on two sources—the same Rostov Codex of 1534 and the Moscow Chronicle Codex of the late 15th–early 16th century. The latter, in turn, was a compilation based on 15th-century Tver’ chronicles, which recorded Russian historical events from the point of view of the princes of Tver’.
