Ayala Case

A case with ethical implications in which Abe and Mary Ayala, in their forties at the time, conceived a child who they hoped would have compatible marrow to donate to Anissa, their 16-year-old daughter who had developed leukemia; at the time, no family member was a suitable donor, and the only external donor match declined. The marrow taken from the child was a match and Anissa recovered.
