Roth-Kvale test

Roth-Kvale test

An obsolete provocative test formerly used for the diagnosis of phaeochromocytoma, based on the rise in blood pressure following histamine injection; hypertension-provoking tests have been virtually abandoned in the diagnosis of phaeochromocytoma, as they carry a risk of inducing a severe hypertensive crisis and have a high rate of false-negativity.
