[′thrəst ri′vər·sər] (aerospace engineering) A device or apparatus for reversing thrust, especially of a jet engine.

thrust reverser

A device placed in the tailpipe of a turbojet engine to deflect some of the exhaust gases forward to produce a rearward thrust. This helps decrease the landing roll. See thrust reversal.
