round ligament

[′rau̇nd ′lig·ə·mənt] (anatomy) A flattened band extending from the fovea on the head of the femur to attach on either side of the acetabular notch between which it blends with the transverse ligament. A fibrous cord running from the umbilicus to the notch in the anterior border of the liver; represents the remains of the obliterated umbilical vein.
