(Problems of Literature), a monthly scholarly journal devoted to literary scholarship and criticism.

Voprosy literatury is the organ of the Union of Writers of the USSR and the Gorky Institute of World Literature of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. It has been published in Moscow since 1957. A. G. Dement’ev was editor in chief until April 1959, and V. M. Ozerov has held the post since 1959. The journal’s main sections are “Contemporary Themes,” “Problems of Theory,” “History of Literature,” “Foreign Literature,” “The Writer’s Craft,” “Publications, Information, Reminiscences,” and “Surveys and Reviews.” In 1971 the circulation was 20,000.
