trigramin

trigramin

A cysteine-rich, RGD-containing polypeptide from the venom of the bamboo pit viper (Trimeresurus gramineus; also known as the Indian green tree viper), which inhibits fibrinogen interaction with platelet receptors expressed on glycoprotein IIb-IIIa complex by binding to the glycoprotein IIb-IIIa receptor on the platelet surface, and inhibiting aggregation induced by ADP, thrombin, platelet-activating factor and collagen. The 72-amino acid sequence was patented in 2007 and has potential as a commercial fibrinogen-induced human platelet aggregation inhibitor; it also inhibits adhesiveness of melanoma cells.
