Trikhonis

a lake in western Greece. Lake Trikhonis, which has an area of 97 sq km, occupies the bottom of a tectonic basin. In the south and west its shores are mostly low-lying and in places swampy; they are higher in the north and east. The lake drains into the Akheloos River, in the Ionian Sea basin. Lake Trikhonis abounds with fish. Situated in the lake’s basin is the city of Agrinion.
