Patient Environment Action Team report
A self-assessment peer-review tool used by inpatient healthcare sites in England with > 10 beds and independent sector facilities. Established in 2000, the PEAT report is a benchmarking instrument which highlights areas for improvement in non-clinical aspects of a patient’s healthcare experience. It is used to ensure that improvements are made and share best practice.Participating organisations are each given scores from 1 (very poor) to 5 (excellent) for standards of privacy and dignity, environment and catering. The National Patient Safety Agency (NPSA) publishes PEAT data annually to NHS organisations, stakeholders, the media and the general public.
