patient lift team

patient lift team

A team of physically fit people who assist the nursing staff in moving patients with mobility problems.

Patient care

Moving patients from beds to gurneys or from chairs to beds is a frequent cause of nursing injuries, esp. in critical care units and medical-surgical wards, where many patients are incapacitated and unable to manage their own transfers. Back injuries afflict approx. 50 percent of nurses during their professional lives. Lift teams are specially trained in the ergonomics of assisting patients with transfers and turning or repositioning them, thereby reducing the number of injuries that nurses receive while moving patients.
