Unit of Supply

 

a quantity of matériel, determined in order to calculate the various needs of troops and their state of supply and to determine expenditure norms.

Examples of units of supply are, in the case of ammunition, the unit of fire, and for fuel, the unit of fuel, which is established per unit of combat equipment and vehicle transport. Other such units are the daily ration for food or a full set of spare parts, of tools, and of certain other types of gear. Other types of supply are accounted for by individual units or by units of weight or volume.
