Patient Partnership Strategy

Patient Partnership Strategy

A UK initiative launched in 1996 to empower patients to make informed decisions about their care, a strategy crystallised in the Department of Health’s Patient and Public Involvement in the New NHS 1999, which re-affirmed that accurate and current information is essential if the ideals later laid down in DoH’s NHS Plan were to be achieved. The PPS provided the framework for user and carer involvement in health service planning and delivery in the UK.
