Razin effect

(rah -zin) (Razin–Tsytovich effect) The reduction of the synchrotron emission from a relativistic electron due to the refractive index of the surrounding medium being less than one. The radio-source spectrum will show a sharp cut-off below a frequency of about 20n e /B MHz, where n e is the electron density (in electrons per cubic meter) and B is the magnetic field strength (in tesla).
