Senja
Senja
an island in the Norwegian Sea, off the northwestern coast of Scandinavia. The island, which is part of Norway, has an area of approximately 1,600 sq km with elevations to 901 m. It is composed primarily of granites and gneisses; fjords are numerous. There is a deposit of graphite on the island. Vegetation is of the mountain tundra and meadow type. There is fishing.
