 [tri″-mĕ-trek´sāt] a folic acid antagonist structurally related to methotrexate, used as the glucuronate salt, in combination with leucovorin, to treat Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia in acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, administered intravenously.

trimetrexate

An inhibitor of the enzyme DIHYDROFOLATE REDUCTASE. It is used to treat Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia in people with AIDS. A brand name is Neutrexin.
