Utroja
Utroja
(also Rītupe; in Russian, Utroia, Ritupe), a river in the Latvian SSR and Pskov Oblast, RSFSR; a left tributary of the Velikaia River. The Utroja measures 176 km in length and drains an area of 3,000 sq km. It originates in Lake Meirănu and flows through several lakes. It is fed predominantly by snow. The mean flow rate 11 km from the mouth is 17.2 cu m per sec. The Utroja freezes over from November to early January, and the ice breaks up in late March or April. The city of Pytalovo is located on the river.
