thy·ro·cer·vi·cal trunk

(thī'rō-sĕr'vi-kăl trŭngk) A short arterial trunk arising from the subclavian artery, giving rise to the suprascapular (which may instead arise directly from the subclavian artery) and terminating by dividing into the ascending cervical and inferior thyroid arteries.
Synonym(s): truncus thyrocervicalis [TA] .

thyrocervical trunk

A short, wide artery that branches from the first segment of the subclavian artery. Its branches include the inferior thyroid, subscapular, and superficial cervical arteries. See also: trunk
