Location:On the Texas gulf coast, near the Louisiana border.
Facilities:Hiking trails, 5 boat ramps.
Activities:Boating, canoeing, fishing, crabbing, hunting.
Special Features:Large concentrations of migrating songbirds fly through the upper Texas coast, with peak periods of migration occurring in April. Nearly 280 species of birds are found on the refuge.
Habitats: 8,900 acres of fresh to salt marsh with some wooded uplands and prairie ridges.
Access: Open 24 hours a day.
Wild life: Warblers, vireos, grosbeaks, tanagers, orioles, buntings, bobcat, gray fox, and American alligator.
