anonymous Web surfing

anonymous Web surfing

Surfing the Web without divulging personal information to websites and tracking technologies. Anonymous Web surfing hides the user's IP address by rerouting all requests through a third-party server (see VPN service, Tor and anonymous proxy).

Another approach is a built-in browser feature or add-on browser plug-in that makes the session private on the client side, removing traces of Web activity in the computer when the browser window is closed (see private browsing). See cookie, anonymous remailer, Web bug and Anonymizer.
