Rozin, Mark Solomonovich

 

Born Sept. 29 (Oct. 12), 1898, in Vitebsk. Soviet economic geographer. Doctor of Geographic Sciences (1963).

Rozin graduated from the department of social sciences of Moscow State University in 1923 and began working in the People’s Commissariat of Foreign Trade in 1924. In 1938 he joined the All-Union Geological Fund of the Ministry of Geology of the USSR; from 1943 to 1953 he was head of the division for records of mineral raw materials in foreign countries. From 1960 to 1974 he headed the editorial board for geography of the Sovetskaia Entsiklopediia Publishing House.

Rozin’s principal works deal with the mineral resources and geography of the mining industry of foreign countries, the geography of the world economy, and the economic geography of the African countries.
