Roztocze
Roztocze
(Polish; in Russian, Roztoche), an upland in southeastern Poland and northwestern L’vov Oblast, Ukrainian SSR. The Roztocze is approximately 200 km long, with elevations rising to 390 m. Much of the area is drained by tributaries of the San and Bug rivers (Vistula River basin). The Roztocze is composed primarily of limestone. The slopes are highly eroded; there are numerous springs, including mineral springs, in the foothills. In the northwest the upland is covered with beech, fir, and pine forests. Much of the area is planted with wheat, rye, and potatoes.
